SPRING IS HERE...I THINK...and I'm still here

Well, its been sometime since I have been on the blog. Cece has been working at her school work and life has been taking us from week to week, month to month. Little Lezlie is getting bigger and she is 15 months, yesterday. Harrison is still sweet as ever and we are working towards getting his school work completed by June, so he doesn't have to do any school work in the summer.

I got a temp job, working for about 4 weeks. It has been quite an adjustment for all of us. Cece has been amazing helping looking after Harrison and Lezlie.

Sylvin is planning his trip to Trinidad. We're not sure when that's going to be, but hopefully soon he'll get to see his mom and other family members.

I finally received a piece of the puzzle to start my financial plans into action. It's moving slowly, but I'm optimistic and hoping for the best.

Hey there,

Well, this is the first opportunity I've had to wish all a happy new year. We had a quiet night and the holidays came and went without a hitch.

Hope everyone had good times with family and friends.

What's new:

Lezlie will be 1 on January 18th. We are having a party for her and she gets the first piece of cake!!
She can stand up now on her own and is taking about 3 to 4 steps by herself. She also has her first tooth.

Harry will be going on his second camping trip with Scouts in a few weeks. It's an all-weekender...hope he doesn't get home sick and miss Cece too much...he!he!

Cece has to get cracking and finish up her 1st semester courses.

Stevie and Sylvin are just working away as usual. They both came down with a virus cold so they are feeling a bit under the weather.

And me, I'm looking into some prospects with regards to working at home. I need to make some moola, so we'll see how that goes. I have to be patient and wait for responses, but I am very optimistic and hopeful that my plans will be successful.

Well, Christmas is just around the corner. We don't have a tree this year because little Lezlie is buzzing around like a bee and well, we don't want the tree to fall on her head. We did other household decorating and put up lights. It's a quiet Christmas this year. We are always at home if anyone wants to come visit us. Remember, I don't have a vehicle anymore, so we welcome visitors anytime.

Sylvin and I are doing fine. Sylvin is enjoying his new job and we have been spending lots of family time together which has been great.

Stevie is with us now which is awesome to have someone to talk to and laugh with. We have already enjoyed his great cooking and he is doing well adjusting just fine.

Cecilia is still trying to get comfortable with grade 10. She has handed in a few assignments and of course, has good marks, 80's and 90's as usual.

Harrison is doing well in Math, he is learning his multiplication and streaming along just fine in his reading.

He is a new Cub Scout and so far has been really enjoying it. Next event...a Halloween Pumpkin Hunt.

I had to go the clinic because Lezlie wasn't having proper bowel movements...my bad. I was giving her too much food and not enough liquids. So, we're back on the breast feeding full tilt. She's already had her first little bowl of rice and dahl...what a true Trini!!

We really enjoyed our vacation. It was relaxing and calm. We kept fairly warm in our tent, but as usual I packed too much stuff. Next time we will pack a lot lighter, which will make moving around a lot better.

Cooking was great with minimal effort. We used disposable items for most of our meals which made cleaning fun.

We rented a cabin for the last night and that was good. It was starting to cool off by the end of the week, but we wanted to stay longer so the cabin was a good idea. It rained the last morning, but Sylvin cooked us a nice breakfast in the rain and we had the best fire that morning.

We really enjoyed our trip and hope to make a longer trip next year.

Cecilia and Harrison had fun. They used the heated pool and hot tub a couple of times and took a small dip in the Osoyoos Lake. We seemed to miss the hotspot on most days due to travel, so the lake was a bit on the cool side when it was time to go for a swim.

We had fun in our tent, we stayed 5 nights in our tent and one night in a cabin in Sicamous, BC. That was our best night with the fire pit. We roasted marshmellows and they had fun with the fire.

They both made some friends in the campgrounds which was nice, they also got invited to watch a movie with a family of 8 girls...they loved that!!!

Lezlie was a good camper, didn't complain at all, had fun sleeping in a tent. She kept her regular sleep schedule which was great, but didn't do so good in the eating department.

The weather was fair to good, we had a couple cool nights, but she kept toasty warm and we had a great time with her.

Sylvin and I are not looking forward to the end of summer. Sylvin hates winter and I have to listen to him hate winter...he!he!

We are looking forward to our trip to Kelowna for a week. It will be our last family trip until Christmas. School starts soon, so our focus will be there.

I'm happy to be at home when the bad weather sets in...no more driving on that crazy Deerfoot Trail.

Cecilia and Harrison are going to start school soon. They will be homeschooling again, so we'll see how that works out.

Summer is close to being over so we are going camping for about 1 week to BC.

I'm so happy...Lezlie is saying "mam mam". It sounds close enough to Mom, so I'll take it. She's so sweet and so much more every day. Lezlie is nodding "no", which is really cute...until she actually means it, then we'll see! She can also clap her hands.

We're still working on the eating concept. She doesn't quite favour those tasty baby food flavours. Another month and we'll give her some real food.

We'll be taking another trip soon, and we'll be spending a lot of time outdoors. Hopefully, this trip will be successful like the last one.

Sylvin did all the driving and I did most of the eating..he! he!

We had a nice relaxing weekend. It was great to be with Mom and Gordon. It was also really nice to see my brother in law, Steve.

Mom and Gordon were wonderful hosts and made our trip quite enjoyable with all the activities and their sight seeing tours of their new home town. I know they are very happy there...and that's the most important thing to us.

Lezlie made it...yeah!

She was an excellent passenger, sleeping and eating just as normal. Lezlie couldn't quite get used to all the people at once, so she remained shy for most of the trip. Grandma and Grandad were good sports, though and very understanding of course. We'll make another trip when she's older and hopefully have better luck at establishing family relations.

I don't know how else to describe Lezlie but...absolutely beautiful and more beautiful every day. She is growing so incredibly fast, and she is so happy and smiley all the time. We are so fortunate to have her in our life.

We are going to visit Grandma and Grandad in Mossbank, Saskatchewan. I hope she is good on that 8 hour road trip...aahhh!!

Cecilia's surprise party was a hit. The girls did a marvelous job at keeping it a secret and I didn't tell Harry because he would have given it away for sure.

Cecilia was pleasantly surprised and they had a great time swimming, eating, listening to music, a moonlight fun night in the park and relaxing in the waterpark.

I made it through the surprise party...what a lot of work just to keep it under wraps. I haven't lied this much since I stole cookies from the cookie jar when I was about 10 years old.

Cecilia didn't suspect anything until about 1 hour before I came home. One of the girls called to let me know they would be late, but I had already left. Cecilia wanted to know why her friend wanted to talk to "me" and not her....go figure!

Well, if anyone knew of our string of bad luck at the beginning of this year, it seems to have begun once again. Yes...our washing machine decided to spin its last cycle. We had a new one brought in only to find out it had been dropped before delivery. We had a second one delivered in good shape, this time. The washing frenzy has begun!!!!

Lezlie didn't see too much of the stampede. She slept most of the time, or we hid her from the potential rain and windy weather.

She sure had fun at Elbow Falls. Lezlie likes the breeze blowing, it makes her laugh. She stayed awake for most of the walk through the park. The weather was nice and we had a lovely time.

Lezlie is now officially on rice cereal. We shall try this for a few more days and then start introducing her to other foods....I hope she's a little food addict, unlike the other children in our home.

Cecilia and Harrison enjoyed the stampede, but were unable to do all the things they wanted. We were confronted with some bad weather and had to leave early. Harrison got to go on some rides, but Cecilia didn't. Harrison had his cotton candy and Cecilia had her little donuts. Daddy came along this time, but he was smitten with Lezlie and allergies.

We'll try again next year!

We made it to the Stampede this year...and Sylvin actually went with us. He wanted to be there for Lezlie. However, he was suffering from allergies, so needless to say his head was in the clouds along with the cloudy weather we had. We left earlier than anticipated. But, we still managed to eat those little donuts and the other great food that the Stampede has to offer. We looked at the exhibits, but missed the dog show. I was sad about that.

Our weekend trip was to Elbow Falls, Bragg Creek. We packed a light lunch and went for a tour of the falls. It was lovely weather with just enough cloud to cool you off.

We are going to enjoy the stampede this year. Last year, I was pregnant and couldn't do too much with Cecilia and Harrison. We are going to go on Seniors Day...not too many kids, so we can enjoy more rides and get front seats at most of the shows!!!

We decided last minute, of course to drive down to Waterton Park, AB. We would have gone to the US side, but Lezlie and I still don't have our passports updated. Anyway, we got our things together and left about 1:30pm on Sat. afternoon.

We stayed at Waterton Lake Lodge, a small, but satisfactory facility. We went for a walk around the lake and town once we got there. We had dinner at one of the finer restaurants. Mosquitos were hearty in the evening, so we took a drive and found a beautiful waterfall. We watched a late night movie and called it a night around 1 am.

Sunday, we took a beautiful drive up a windy road to another lake, Cameron Lake. It was so hot with a slight breeze, just enough to keep you cool. We spent about 2 hours there and then headed back home. It was a nice getaway from Calgary. On Monday, we will just spend some quiet family time around Calgary for a walk or drive perhaps.

Cecilia and Harrison did well on this trip. Harrison asked "are we there yet?" only 3 times. Harrison and Daddy rented a rowboat and went on Cameron Lake.
Cecilia took pictures of the wildlife and scenery, of course. This seems to be her specialty on any trip that we go on. She took pics of birds, deer, mountain goats and a little squirrel. There are pics of the Waterton and Cameron Lake. The butterfly pics were taken by Daddy.

Lezlie Venice was an excellent baby on her first long trip to Waterton, AB. We had a few fussy periods in the car, but otherwise she was quite content. Lezlie didn't sleep very well in the lodge...I think she knew that wasn't her bed!! The water was too cold for her to take a dip, it was like super ice water, but the sun was scorching so she got a new sun hat...a little big, but did the job.

Cecilia has completed her exams and is relieved! Harrison will continue his school work throughout the summer...because he can.

The school will not be re-opening in the fall. We will continue with the home schooling as planned.

We are counting down the days to when Venice can have her first spoonful of real food. Cecilia and Harrison can't wait to feed her! We bought her a new high chair so she can be part of the dinner table and feel like a big girl. We have 22 days left!!

Sylvin got a new job and is enjoying it so far. A few additional hours here and there, but mostly no Saturdays which is good for us.

I'm still enjoying my days at home, also waiting to get out in the good weather. I want to start an exercise regime - weather, time and children permitting.

Stevie may be joining us again from Trinidad, which will be good.

Cece is supposed to be studying for exams and Harry is supposed to be finishing his school work, but both of them are pre-occupied with the nice weather, finally. We went to Prince's Island Park for a leisurely stroll to enjoy the sun. It was cloudy, but warm, Cece was not impressed.

Gifts shall abound if the marks are impressive, otherwise I shall succumb them both to a summer of chores, bread and warm water......whooaaahhhaaaaa!!!!!
